Incident - Grampians Bushfire Victoria - 2024-25

A bushfire in the Southern Grampians started in mid-December 2024, forcing the closure of Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. As part of the emergency response, Wildlife Field Assessment teams, including field veterinarians, have been deployed in areas where it has been safe for them to operate in line with the Victorian Response Plan for Wildlife Impacted by Fire (find out more here).

Emergency supplementary feeding to support the at-risk southern brush-tailed rock wallaby (Petrogale penicillata) population in the Grampians fire area has occurred. A video on the supplementary feeding operation is available here.

The bushfire in the Grampians National Park is now contained. For more information visit Forest Fire Management Victoria.
