Leave a lasting legacy with a gift in your will to Wildlife Health Australia

At Wildlife Health Australia, we are committed to protecting and preserving the health of our nation's precious wildlife. Every day, our dedicated team works tirelessly to monitor, prepare, and respond to threats facing Australia's unique biodiversity.

You can play a vital role in our mission by leaving a bequest to Wildlife Health Australia in your will. By including Wildlife Health Australia in your estate planning, you can ensure that your passion for wildlife conservation continues for generations to come.

Your bequest will enable us to continue our crucial work, including:

  • Surveillance and Monitoring: We conduct vital surveillance to better understand the health impacts facing our wildlife, enabling us to develop effective strategies for conservation and management
  • Emergency Response: We respond rapidly to wildlife health emergencies, such as disease outbreaks or environmental disasters, providing critical support to responding agencies across the country
  • Education and Outreach: We educate communities, veterinarians, and policymakers about wildlife health issues, empowering them to take action to protect and conserve Australia's biodiversity
  • One Health Approach: We recognise the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. By promoting a One Health approach, we aim to address complex health challenges holistically, ensuring the well-being of wildlife, people, and the environment.

How to leave a gift in your will

A bequest is an instruction in your will to leave a gift to a specific person, organisation or charity.  Your will is an important document that must be properly prepared and executed and we recommend that you seek legal advice when writing or updating your will.

Suggested steps:

  1. After your loved ones are provided for, consider the type of gift you would like to leave to Wildlife Health Australia
  2. Consult a solicitor to write or amend your will
  3. Use the correct wording.  Suggested wording for including Wildlife Health Australia in your will is: "I bequeath (the whole/a percentage/something specific/residue) of my estate to Wildlife Health Australia of 490 Northbourne Avenue, Dickson ACT 2602 for purposes that it shall determine, and this bequest will be free from all duties.  The receipt of this bequest by any authorised officer of Wildlife Health Australia shall form valid discharge to my executor."
  4. Sign your will (while witnessed)
  5. Please let us know
